[ Eliot could have probably served him tar on a platter and G'raha would have a good time. There are very few things he hasn't eaten even when it isn't to his taste, but it is certainly better when it is objectively delicious.
He happily drinks more of the tea before starting to try different combinations of the foods together, shoving some of the potatoes and the meat on the fork at the same time. Oh yes that is good as well. Unsurprisingly!
Eliot's commentary does get a little chuckle out of him, and his response is maybe a bit rude with him chewing the last parts of his bite. ]
I would love that.
[ And he really would. He swallows, thankfully, before continuing. ]
It does feel as if we're been burning our candles at both ends of late. Some respite is long overdue.
[ Something simple and congenial. It's hard for G'raha to remember at times, that not everything needs to be a task or goal to be accomplished for some greater end. But he's been getting better at reminding himself of that. That these moments are the reasons why you work hard—so that you can enjoy life and the company you keep.
G'raha readily takes more of the offered onions. ]
Oh that is a very dangerous offer, my friend.
[ His smile turns a little cheeky as he even nibbles on one of the picked onions as-is. ]
I made a promise to myself not too long ago—that should I come across a new culinary delight, I'm obligated to try it.
And that is a very dangerous thing to admit to me, because now I'm gonna keep thinking up new things for you try. Hell, maybe you can help cook the next one.
[ Eliot is one hundred percent one of those people who don't want people in his kitchen—Hardison calls him a control freak, and you know what, he's not far off—but it's different if he's teaching them, helping them out. Any way he can help spread the love. And maybe he's got it up on some kind of pedestal for the way it helped save his life, but seeing as how he helped save his life he thinks he's got an appropriate level of reverence towards it. ]
[ To say that all of those things sound fantastic would be an understatement. G'raha looks a bit like, well, a cat who got his cream. He's eating well now and in good company with promises of both in the future...how could he not be happy? ]
I would be honored to be allowed in your kitchen again.
[ G'raha isn't a chef but he does understand how sacred the space can be for some. Especially those who are skilled. ]
I do, yes. Well— [ He laughs, a little self-conscious. ] —I enjoy what I am able to make, although I won't claim that it's of any real acclaim. I fully admit to relying more heavily on many ready-made ingredients here.
[ Baby Lyna would have loved Kraft Mac 'n Cheese... ]
[ Eliot can admit that he can be a bit if a snob when it comes to cooking and ingredients but—
Okay.
Eliot's a massive snob when it comes to cooking and ingredients but a lot of that is based on what he expects from himself and from him meeting people where they're at. If they're head chef at some Michelin star then he's got high expectations. If they're some mother feeding their family of five then he'd be a bit of a dick to be expecting French truffles in the pasta.
And most importantly, G'raha clearly just enjoys food and learning new things. That's pretty much the perfect combination to be working with Eliot. ]
Besides, everyone's gotta start somewhere, right? And it's not like we're swimming in fresh produce out here. But if you wanna learn then we can do that, no problem.
[ If only he could have had Eliot back on the First! Lyna would have suffered less of his attempts to provide "home cooked meals" for his adopted daughter. Thankfully the rest of the Crystarium made up for his lack of skill, but there is something to being the one to create, to provide.
He can see that not only in the array of dishes Eliot has presented, but in just how good they taste. ]
Then I humbly place myself in your tutelage.
[ He places a hand at his heart and gives a slight bow, but shortly after takes a hefty bite of the meat. Hmm. ]
I can already see it comes with perks. I really should taste more of your food to learn by example...just to begin with, you know.
